Tragedy of Blood
Return to Swan Lake
In an isolated and lawless valley lost in American mountains in 1875, two clans, the Nicis and the Groths, have been mired in a deadly blood feud for forty years. Andrew Nici, head of the Nici clan, does everything in his power to put an end to the feud and save what is left of his family, but he finds himself inextricably trapped in a cycle of vengeance involving murder, mutilation, rape, madness, visitations by ghosts, and even a suspicion of unwitting cannibalism.
Slasher fiction? Not quite. The novel is loosely based on Shakespeare's early "tragedy of blood" TITUS ANDRONICUS, the raw meat of which has been tenderized by a ROMEO AND JULIET subplot.
